SUE FARROW, FOUNDER TRUSTEE, RETIRES AFTER DECADES OF SERVICE

A sad milestone in the history of the Farnham Swimming Baths Trust, which runs the Victoria Garden off South Street Farnham - Sue Farrow, one of the Trust’s founder members, has retired after over 30 years of service.

As Trust Secretary, Sue was one of those instrumental in creating the present-day Victoria Garden on the site of the old open-air swimming pool which closed in the 1990s. The garden was one of the first in the country to receive a Heritage Lottery grant, and was formally opened on 6 October 1998 by the Duchess of Gloucester.

Since then, the Victoria Garden has been a peaceful and much-loved haven visited by hundreds of visitors over the years. Maintained entirely by volunteers, it is open each day during daylight hours for everyone to enjoy. Regrettably, at times it has had to be closed owing to vandalism but currently it is available for all to enjoy.

David Munro, Treasurer of the Trust, and Alison Gordon, Chair of the Friends of the Victoria Garden, visited Sue on 11 June to thank her for her service and to present her with a planter full of flowers.
